FROM 31st MAY TO 6th JUNE
On Tuesday, May 31st 1955, the Municipal Market was inaugurated in Dénia, a new building in the heart of the city where the activity that, until then, was carried out in the Glorieta was transferred. A place that now, 70 years later, continues to be the social and commercial centre of the city.
The celebrations begin on Saturday 31 May with Figatell Fest, a gastronomic event based around figatell.
Cooking demonstrations, tapas with figatells, roulette with prizes for customers and special offers are some of the attractions of this festive day when the Market extends its opening hours until 5 pm.
At 9.30 a.m. there will be show cooking with chefs Miquel Ruiz, from Baret de Miquel, José Manuel López, from the Peix i Brases restaurant and Bati Bordes, from Marino, in the central part of the Market.
And the four bars of the Market will be cooking figatells supplied by the meat stalls. The dish can be savoured at the bar or at the chairs and tables that will be set up on Carrer Magallanes, in the shade of various marquees. All this will be accompanied by live music from 12.30 p.m. onwards.
On the other hand, the butcher's shops will beoffering the star product of this festival at a price of 0.50 euros per unit.
In addition, customers who make purchases of 10 euros or more at the Market on that day will be able to take part in a prize draw with products from the stalls.
On Tuesday 3 June, at 7.30 p.m. an audiovisual presentation of the 70 years of the Market will be shown at the Social Centre.
On 4 and 5 June there will be special discounts and promotions at the Market stalls, another way of encouraging purchases and offering advantages to loyal customers.
On Thursday 5th and Friday 6th June there will be an information service for the citizens about the services offered by the Market, such as the purchase collection lockers, the D-Dénia app, etc.
And finally, on Saturday 6th June, a giant cake commemorating this 70th birthday, made by the three bakeries with a point of sale in the Market, will be shared with the customers. The sweet will be distributed among the people who show a purchase ticket in the Market dated during this week of birthday celebration.
