Santíssima Sang's day volver

It is a local holiday dedicated to the Blessed Blood, an image represented by the figure of Jesus Christ lying, which is located on the altar of the church of the Convent of the Augustinians in Loreto Street.

On this day religious events predominate, with the celebration of a mass in the morning and the procession through the city center in the afternoon. Another must see event this day is the Agrupació Artística Musical concert, which brings together thousands of people.

The origin of this festival dates back to 1587 with the foundation of the Brotherhood of the Blood of Christ, but it is in 1633 when the devotion of the city lived a moment of greater fullness and growth of the hand of Fray Pere Esteve, popularly known as Pare Pere, who after knowing that the city suffered an epidemic, by divine inspiration resolved to celebrate a feast in honor of the Most Pure Blood of Christ. According to tradition, a procession, a mass and a sermon were held in which Pere blessed some loaves that were distributed to the population, which miraculously healed from the epidemic.

Nowadays, the festival is represented by the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Blood, whose mayors are responsible for organizing religious activities.
