How to get there?

By car

Getting to Dénia by car is a highly recommended option, especially if you want to move freely around the area and explore its surroundings. The city is very well connected by road and access from Valencia, Alicante or any point on the coast is simple and direct.

Main accesses
by road

  • From Valencia
    Just take the AP-7 freeway southbound and exit at exit 62 (Ondara / Dénia / Xàbia). From that point, the CV-725 takes you directly to the center of Dénia. The trip usually takes about an hour and a quarter.
  • From Alicante
    Access is also via the AP-7, heading north, also leaving at exit 62. Another option, slower but scenic, is the N-332, which runs along the coast. In both cases, the estimated travel time is just over an hour.
  • From Madrid or the center of the peninsula
    The most common is to take the A-3 to Valencia and then continue south on the AP-7. The trip takes about 4 hours and a half, depending on traffic.
  • From Barcelona or the north
    It is easily accessible by the AP-7, passing through Tarragona, Castellón and Valencia. The trip to Dénia is about 470 km and can be done in about 4 hours and a half if you travel calmly.
  • From nearby towns (Jávea, Calp, Benissa, etc.)
    Dénia is connected with all its surroundings by regional roads in good condition. The most common are the CV-735 and CV-736, ideal if you are looking for a quieter and more scenic route.

Parking
and practical tips

  • The center has regulated parking areas (blue zone) and several parking lots, such as those in Plaza del Oculista Buigues, La Vía street (subway) or Plaza Valgamediós.
  • You will also find free zones in the surroundings of the city center, ideal for leaving the car and walking to the center.
  • Useful tip: if you come on special days or in high season, it is best to avoid rush hours and leave your car in the parking lots on the outskirts of the city center.
By train
From Alicante

From Valencia

Cercanías RENFE, to Gandía (city located 40km from Dénia). Possibility to connect with the ALSA bus service from Gandia train station to Dénia.

There are two main ways to get to Dénia by train, taking advantage of both the TRAM and the Cercanías network:

Alicante Metropolitan TRAM (Line 9)

Line 9 of the TRAM directly connects Alicante and Dénia, passing through stations such as Benidorm, Altea, Calpe and Teulada. The complete route takes approximately 1 h 40-100 min, in modern tram-trains with several frequencies per day.

Combination Valencia-Gandía + bus to Dénia

From Valencia, you can take a Cercanías train (line C-1) to Gandía, and from there connect with an ALSA bus to Dénia.

This is a useful option if you prefer to leave Valencia and enjoy the train+bus stretch along the coast.

By bus

The bus station of Dénia is located at C/Mestre José Monjo Ferrer

  • ALSA offers connections between Dénia and the main Spanish cities.

  • Autocares Carrió offers connections between Dénia and municipalities in the Marina Alta region. It also links with the Portal de la Marina Shopping Center.

  • Autobuses Esteve connects Dénia with La Vall de Laguar, Pedreguer and Benidoleig.

Dénia has good bus connections from both Valencia and Alicante. The company ALSA operates regular routes from both cities, with several daily services and an approximate duration of between 1 h 30 min and 2 hours, depending on the departure point.

There are also buses from other nearby towns such as Jávea, Calp or Gandía, as well as urban lines that connect the center of Dénia with beach areas such as Les Marines or Les Rotes.

The bus station of Dénia located in C/Mestre Jose Moncho Ferrer is where the buses to other towns leave from (Alsa, Carrió, etc). Buses to the beaches and to the hospital leave from Explanada Cervantes, with different stops along their routes.

By boat

The maritime station is located on the north pier.

  • Connection between Dénia and the Balearic Islands with the company BALEARIA.

    Dénia is a very well connected seaport offering direct routes to the Balearic Islands all year round:

  • Dénia – Ibiza: Approximately 2 h 15 min trip by fast ferry with Baleària. This is the most popular and fastest connection for those looking for a day or weekend getaway.
  • Dénia – Formentera: Also operated by Baleària, this route takes about 2 h and includes direct and vehicle options, ideal for those planning to travel by car.
  • Dénia – Mallorca (Palma): Toques Frequent departures during the summer season, with an estimated duration of 5 to 7 hours.
By plane

Nearest airports

Dénia does not have its own airport, but it is very well connected with two international airports nearby:

  • Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández (ALC), about 100 km away
  • Valencia (VLC), about 113 km away

From both airports you can reach Dénia by car, bus, private transfer or rental car. The journey takes about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on traffic and the means of transport chosen.

It is a comfortable option if you arrive from other cities in Spain or from abroad, and allows you to combine the trip with other visits along the Mediterranean coast.
