Recipe arrop i talladetes

The arrop i talladetes is one of the most traditional and unique desserts of Dénia, inherited from the oldest Valencian cuisine. Its elaboration consists of a thick sweet syrup -the arrop, obtained from the slow cooking of grape must- in which small pieces of pumpkin, sweet potato, melon or even orange peel, the so-called talladetes, are immersed. The result is an intense dessert, aromatic and full of nuances, which reflects the essence of the use and creativity in popular confectionery.

In Dénia, this sweet has been for generations a symbol of the union between agriculture and cuisine. The muscatel grape of the region, the base of the arrop, and the fruits of the orchard are combined to create a dessert that encloses in each spoonful the memory of the land and the artisan work. Today, arrop i talladetes is still present in local festivals and markets, reminding everyone of the taste of tradition.

More than a dessert, it is a symbol of identity that connects the locals with their roots and offers visitors the opportunity to discover a unique flavor, linked to the history and authenticity of Mediterranean cuisine.
