In 2015, Dénia was declared Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO, an international recognition that values the richness and diversity of its culinary culture, local and regional.
This distinction places Dénia and the Marina Alta region in a worldwide network of cities that work for creativity, sustainability and innovation through gastronomy.
Curiosities

Local gastronomic products already have their own brand: the bancalet brand.
In the Marina Alta region, work is being done on the recovery of traditional varieties of products such as “el blat de la Marina” (Marina wheat), rice bonbon, etc.
Currently, there are only 3 UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy in Spain: Dénia, Burgos and Zaragoza.
