Fish Market

Dénia fish market: the sea, straight to your table

Every afternoon, from Monday to Friday, the port of Dénia is full of life with the arrival of the fishing boats. This is when one of the most authentic rituals of the city begins: the unloading of fresh fish and the direct sale at the fish market.

Located in the Fishing Dock, in front of the Cervantes Esplanade and next to the Museum of the Sea, the Dénia Fish Market allows visitors to purchase freshly caught products from the local fleet. The Mercat de Peix, located on the first floor of the building, offers a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood: from the famous Dénia red shrimp to squid, octopus, crayfish, sea urchins and rock fish.

Orientation schedules:

  • Summer: from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Winter: from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Rest of the year: from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

From Monday to Friday (except biological stop) the fishing boats return to port at 16:00 hrs.

The professional fish auction, a traditional and fascinating activity, can be witnessed by individuals starting at 5 p.m., in several ways:

  • Accessing the upper floor, through the side stairs of the fish market and observing the auction from the upper windows.
  • Prior authorization from the Fishermen’s Guild, to attend the auction on the first floor.
