Marqués de Campo Street (the main street)

Marqués de Campo Street is the real pedestrian axis of the center of Dénia, closed to traffic – except for perpendicular accesses – to encourage quiet strolls between stores, bank offices, cafes and restaurants. It is dedicated to José Campo, a promoter of local urban development during the 19th century.

This space is the usual scene of festive events that fill the city with life, such as religious processions, parades during the Fallas, the parade of floats of the Festa Major or the gala events of Moors and Christians.

Why visit it?

  • It is the commercial heart of the city, ideal for walking with lively terraces and charming shop windows.
  • It contains emblematic buildings from the 19th and 20th century, such as the old Hotel “El Comercio” at number 17 (famous for its original Portuguese tiles) or modernist style houses that reflect the historical boom of Dénia.
  • It is a central point that connects with other historic streets such as Loreto Street, Cavallers or Constitution Square, forming part of the most significant urban fabric.
