Coll de Pous

On the road leading into Jesús Pobre, next to the Les Freses winery, there are information totems about Coll de Pous, a 4th-century BC Iberian site with Greek colonial influences. These totems are located here because this enclave marks the start of one of the possible hiking trails that lead to the site.

The citadel was inhabited until the 2nd century BC. In 1891, the famous ‘Treasure of Montgó’ was found, a collection of coins that reveal intense Mediterranean relations and whose whereabouts are currently unknown, with the exception of a tetradrachm from Messana, a coin currently deposited in the British Museum.

Access: To access the site, you can take a hiking route from Jesús Pobre. There is also the option of a circular route from Jesús Pobre and from La Xara, visiting the site of L’Alt de Benimaquía on both routes.

Accessibility: Only to the totems or explanatory panels, which can be accessed by private vehicle.
