Information

Why sailing in Dénia?

A unique enclave facing the Mediterranean

Sailing from Dénia means doing so from a strategic location, well connected and surrounded by protected nature. Its privileged location allows easy access to coves, cliffs, the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve, and even crossings to Ibiza or Formentera, just 60 nautical miles away.

The city has four marinas and an additional mooring area, with more than 2,000 berths and all the necessary services for boaters: fuel, maintenance, supplies, nautical schools, restaurants, specialized stores and more.

In addition, its mild climate allows you to enjoy the sea all year round, making Dénia an ideal destination for sailing in any season.

Good environmental practices at sea

Navigating with respect and awareness

The marine environment of Dénia is an area of great ecological value that must be protected. For this reason, both the authorities and the charter companies encourage compliance with good environmental practices during navigation:

  • Use authorized ecological buoys to anchor in protected areas, avoiding damage to posidonia meadows. In other areas, even if they are not protected, if there are mooring buoys, it is preferable to anchor on them rather than drop anchor.
  • Do not throw any type of waste into the sea; everything must return to land.
  • Avoid discharge of sewage or oils.
  • Maintain a safe distance from cetaceans and do not alter their behavior.
  • Respect speed and reduce noise in sensitive areas or near the coast.
  • It is mandatory to respect the rules of the Cabo de San Antonio Natural and Marine Reserve (include here the link to the rules and uses).
  • It is mandatory not to anchor on the L’Almadrava SCI, anchoring with anchor is not allowed.

With small gestures, you can enjoy the sea without leaving a trace. Sailing responsibly is also a way to take care of what surrounds us and ensure that future generations will be able to experience it in the same way.
