Benimaquia Point – Coll de Pous

The CV 735 is the road that runs parallel to the southern slope of the Montgó from Dénia to La Xara, to Jesús Pobre, Jávea…

The starting point is an asphalt road next to an Occupational and Day Center of La Xara. At the end of the road, after about 300 meters, we find on the right a path that winds up to the Alt de Benimaquia, an important Iberian settlement of the seventh century BC, which probably because of the influences, was the first place where wine was made in the Iberian Peninsula.

From here, the path is practically flat and surrounds the village on the left until we find, about 2 kilometers from the start, “La casa del guarda”. From there we will take the path that is on the left and that will lead us through a pine forest, passing through several marked crossroads so as not to lose the main path.

Finally we go to Coll de Pous, remains of another Iberian settlement of Attic origin from the 6th century BC, and we will finish the route.
