The old town is a highlight. The Portal Vell marks the entrance to the walled enclosure. The main street catches the eye with its latticed balconies, its cobbled and stepped pavement, and its traditional charm.
Heading towards the Plaza de la Iglesia de la Virgen del Consuelo, we find a cosy spot where the church dedicated to this Virgin stands, topped by distinctive blue and white tiled domes. This square hosts the ‘Mostra de Artesanía’ during the summer season and Holy Week, with stalls selling various items in a bohemian, artisanal atmosphere. Next to the church square is a viewpoint offering magnificent views.
Having explored the old town, we head to the Mediterranean promenade, where we’ll also find cafés, restaurants, shops, gardens, etc., and where we can enjoy a pleasant stroll.
