CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BUILDING

The original building is a civil work dating back to the s.  XVI, which underwent a series of reforms in the S. XVIII. From those times we get to the twentieth century a rectangular building with two slopes and Arab tile roof. Inside, apart from playing an important role as a port warehouse, ships were built and repaired. Currently the building that includes the remains of the old shipyards is bounded by Pl. les Drassanes, No. 1-2, Port Street, 15 and Pilota Street, 3.

What we can see today is a sturdy 3-story building with an attic that crowns it and of which part of the materials of the second floor formed the old port warehouse of the sixteenth century, which later had various functions, including the construction of ships.

That port warehouse was a long, narrow building, with one floor plus a chamber with a double-sloped Arab tile roof. Of the original, as we have indicated, only part of the second floor is preserved, where five rough stone arches can be seen, with the plinth, corner pieces and part of the dividing cornices of the same stone. A sixth arch, at the present No. 3 of the square, was demolished in the second half of the 20th century.   Everything on the upper floors is completely modern, being integrated into a larger building.

Regarding the architecture, attention should also be paid to the distribution of the original façade openings, dimensions, typology and elements of exterior decoration.
