Red Route: Ascent to Peñon de Ifach

The Red Route of the Peñon de Ifach is the most popular trail in the natural park and one of the most spectacular in the Marina Alta. It starts from the Interpretation Center and climbs to the top of the rock (332 m), from where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the coast and the surrounding mountains. The route is divided into two sections:

  • First section: up to the tunnel (1918), easy and suitable for families.
  • Second section: from the tunnel, more demanding and with risky sections, accessible only to those over 18 years of age.

Limited access: 300 persons/day (online reservation required)

  • Poniente viewpoint: panoramic view of the coast and remains of medieval walls.
  • Remains of the Iberian settlement: vestiges hidden among the vegetation.
  • Lying pines: shaped by the sea wind.
  • Rest area: ideal place to listen to birds.
  • Cavanilles Botanical Viewpoint: Mediterranean flora and open views.
  • Tunnel (1918): narrow and slippery pass that connects with the southern slope.
  • Carabineros lookout point: former lookout post with panoramic views of the sea.
  • Summit of Peñón (332 m): the highest point, with views of the entire Marina Alta and even Ibiza on clear days.
